Estanc receives ISO 50001 certificate for energy management and EUREM training qualification

It’s finally here! We have a new awaited member to add to our certificates. The recent addition of the ISO 50001 certificate for energy management to complement the ISO 9001 and 14001, 45001 already in place. In achieving this, Estanc promises ongoingly to commit to improving energy efficiency and reducing their impact on the environment. On top of that, our Warehouse and Maintenance Manager Asso Kesaväli received an EUREM training qualification of an employee as an Energy Manager.

iso50001ISO 50001 is a strategic tool to help you use energy more efficiently and effectively. Such an approach makes it easier to integrate energy management into our overall efforts to improve environmental management and bring added value to our organisation. In recent years, Estanc has further strengthened its commitment to the environment, making sure that regardless of the industry we operate in, we can still protect the environment.

The goal of implementing the Energy Management System standard is to continuously improve energy performance, energy efficiency, energy use and energy consumption. EnMS standard gives us a recognized framework for developing an effective energy management system. Like other ISO management system standards, it follows the “Plan-Do-Check-Act” process for continual improvement, which helps us from developing a policy for more efficient use of energy to continually improving energy management, and all steps between.

On top of that, our Warehouse and Maintenance Manager Asso Kesaväli received an EUREM training qualification of an employee as an Energy Manager. The EUREM training program is a standardized training program for European Energy Managers, combining theoretical lessons, exercises, personal learning and practical energy work. In addition, it provides trainees with access to a European network of EUREM graduates in order to share knowledge and experience. Asso says: “Participation in the program provided an opportunity to get an overview of different energy fields, their nature and possible future trends – the energy market, energy consumers, energy producers and energy carriers. The training plan was extensive enough that after passing it we could evaluate and analyze the company’s energy use and, based on that, find bottlenecks and concrete solutions for more energy-efficient performance.”

2020 targets for energy efficiency

In accordance with the requirements of ISO 50001, we have developed objectives, targets and action plans to implement the energy management system. Set targets for 2020 are:

  • implementation of an energy management system;
  • raising energy awareness among team members;
  • thorough mapping and monitoring of energy use;
  • electricity costs reduction.

Measures to achieve the targets include solar station installation, quarterly energy reviews, mapping the possibilities of establishing a permanent measurement system, implementation of energy saving projects etc.
