Mission Day 2024
On May 16, 2024, Estanc’s 6th Mission Day took place in the village of Laane, Harju County, where we contributed to increasing the area of Estonian forests by planting trees.
This Mission Day was held in cooperation with Vestman Group, whose goal is to provide lasting value to forest and agricultural land and to preserve and improve biodiversity and natural habitats. AS Vestman Mets manages approximately 830 land units covering a total of about 22,000 hectares. Most of their holdings are located in Southwestern Estonia (Viljandi, Pärnu, Rapla, Järva, and Valga counties). Vestman Group is one of three companies in Estonia participating in the European Union’s 3 Billion Trees project, “Trees for Life,” which aims to plant three billion trees in Europe by 2030. Vestman is the largest contributor to the project in Estonia, having already planted nearly 100,000 trees.
This year’s event saw a record number of participants in recent years, with 68 people coming to plant spruce seedlings. The weather favored the event, and it was a pleasant sunny day in nature. After planting 1712 seedlings, we headed to the Viking Village, where we enjoyed a hearty lunch in a medieval setting.
Vestman Group will take care of the spruce seedlings we planted, helping them grow tall.
